The Landscape Score evaluates how well an artificial grass product performs in residential and decorative outdoor applications. It combines structural, visual, and comfort-related factors to estimate suitability for typical landscaping use.

Turf Realism Score

Realism measures how closely artificial grass replicates the visual characteristics of natural grass. This includes factors such as multiple yarn colors, thatch presence, blade shape variation, and surface finish (e.g., deluster). Higher realism scores indicate a more natural appearance in residential and decorative settings.

Softness Score

Softness reflects the surface feel of the turf underfoot. It is influenced by fiber material, yarn thickness (denier), pile height, and turf density. Landscape turf is typically designed to provide a comfortable walking surface without compromising structural integrity.

Durability Score

Durability represents the turf’s ability to withstand regular use and maintain its structure over time. It is derived from factors such as turf density, yarn strength, fiber thickness, backing construction, and pile height. Landscape turf requires moderate durability to support foot traffic without excessive wear or matting.

Heat Comfort Score

Heat comfort evaluates how much heat the turf surface retains under sunlight. It is influenced by yarn material, color composition, UV stabilizers, and reflective properties. Lower heat retention improves usability, especially in warm climates or areas with direct sun exposure.

Pile Height

Artificial grass for landscaping is typically designed within a moderate pile height range. Turf between approximately 1.25 and 1.75 inches provides a balance between visual fullness and structural stability. Shorter pile heights may appear less natural, while taller fibers can reduce durability and increase maintenance requirements.

Drainage Score

Drainage performance affects how efficiently water passes through the turf system. Landscaping applications generally require moderate to high drainage to prevent standing water and support cleaning. Extremely low drainage can lead to moisture retention, while very high drainage provides diminishing practical benefit in standard landscape installations.
